OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The Municipality sent out a notice today, 31 May, stating that they are aware of the road defects in many areas and the rain will cause further damage.
According to Aurelia Mle, liaison officer for the Municipality, they plan to mitigate this.
"Due to the weather, the wet conditions are creating very large potholes that are damaging to vehicles. At the moment we are doing emergency filling of these potholes with base coarse or crusher dust to help prevent these damages to vehicles."
She said the filling of these potholes is just a temporary measure they use and will come back to repair the areas correctly.
"The heavy rain is eroding the road surface faster than we can repair it. Therefore, creating a backlog on repairing and maintenance."
The repairing and maintenance of road surfaces can only happen in dry conditions.
