Feet should be shoulder-width apart. Do yourself a favour and turn the front toe slightly open. Why? This will encourage a proper hip turn around the knee and ankle joint, which will lead to proper weight transfer.
Knees only slightly bent. Watch out for bending your knees too much, this will affect your posture and plane quite a lot.
Upper body. Make sure your back is straight or flat. If you struggle to achieve the correct position, watch the weight lifting guys on TV. You will note that their backs are always very straight. Try to copy them by putting a golf club on your shoulders. Soon you will feel what a straight back feels like.
As you bend over, make sure you feel the weight on the balls of the feet. Don’t lean or sit on your heels. Then let the arms just simply hang from the shoulders.
When you look in the mirror you should be able to see a ‘one-hand space’ between the hands and your legs. You’ll immediately see if your arms are stretching forward instead of hanging.
