NATIONAL NEWS - South Africa and New Zealand lost a second consecutive day of play because of a wet and soft outfield on the fourth day of the first test at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in Durban on Monday.
Heavy rain fell over the ground on Saturday night and Sunday morning which resulted in a sodden outfield with the third day of the test abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Despite the sun shining all day Sunday and a strong wind blowing on Monday the umpires felt that the field was still too soft underfoot for any play to happen on day four.
The umpires eventually decided to abandon play for the day at 14.00 (SA Time).
