POLITICAL NEWS - Civil society organisation Save South Africa has called for a lunchtime shutdown next Tuesday when a motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma is heard in Parliament.
The motion brought by opposition parties will be the eighth against Zuma.
African National Congress (ANC) Members of Parliament have been urged by opposition parties and civil society organisations to vote for the President to step down.
Save South Africa has joined many other organisations, political parties and some ANC MPs in calling for President Zuma to be booted through a motion of no confidence happening next Tuesday.
Save SA's Shiela Sisulu says she hopes hundreds of South Africans will take part in a countrywide march in support for a vote to see the President vacate his position.
“We are urging all South Africans to come out in their numbers on 8 August. We are calling for a lunchtime shutdown from 12 to 2 pm.”
Veteran trade unionist Zwelinzima Vavi is among others who have joined Save SA.
“We are concerned about the escalating litany of poor service and a host of issues under that.”
The organisation has also urged Cape Town residents to join the march to Parliament on the day the motion will be heard.
