Sars warns taxpayers: New scam

NATIONAL NEWS - The South African Revenue Service (Sars) has warned taxpayers about new scams where criminals pretend to be from Sars, demanding outstanding payments on undeclared taxes.

Sars says any outstanding accounts must be handled by its offices directly.

Spokesperson Sandile Memela has called on the public to report any suspicious activities to the police.

“All outstanding tax must only be paid directly into a Sars bank account. Sars doesn’t have the habit of sending agents to collect debt from individuals or businesses.”
