OUDTSHOORN NEWS - In response to the stabilisation of water levels at Raubenheimer Dam, which have increased to above 70%, the Oudtshoorn Municipality has implemented Level 1 Water Restrictions in accordance with its Water Management Plan.
These measures allow the easing of previous restrictions, while continuing to encourage responsible and sustainable water usage.
Level 1 Water Restrictions:
Irrigation Measures as per approved council resolution:
Irrigation permitted 6 days per week, 6 hours per day, split as follows
Morning: 06:00 – 09:00
Afternoon: 16:00 – 19:00
Alternating schedule to manage system pressures:
Even house numbers: Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Uneven house numbers: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
- Irrigation of Sport Fields permitted 3 days a week for 6 hours per day
- Private car washing: Allowed
- Commercial car washes: Allowed
- Daily use target: 150 litres per person per day
- Private swimming pools: May be filled but must be covered to minimize evaporation.
- Fountains: Allowed
- Washing paving: Not allowed
- Roof cleaning / construction use: Allowed
The fine for non-complicance is a R1 000.
De Rust, Dysselsdorp and KKRWSS
These areas remain under Level 6 (crisis) restrictions due to critically low water availability. Please refer to the attached Water Conservation Table for details on all restriction levels and their specific implications.
