OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Garden Route police members clamped down on illicit drug outlets as part of ongoing crime-combating operations, with the arrest of four suspects during operations conducted at Knysna and Oudtshoorn, respectively.
On Tuesday, 21 July, members attached to the Oudtshoorn Crime Prevention Unit, Western Cape Tactical Response Team, and Crime Intelligence raided a premises at 1st Avenue, Bridgeton, in Oudtshoorn.
On arrival, the members noticed a man approaching the bathroom, where he attempted to flush drugs.
The vigilant members intervened and confiscated 51 Mandrax tablets, two halved Mandrax tablets, and 24 bankies of tik. A 50-year-old man was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs.
Later the same day, the same team pounced on a house at 1st Avenue, Thabo Mbeki Square, Bongolethu in Oudtshoorn. A search of the premises resulted in the confiscation of 60 Mandrax tablets and eight halves.
The police also found seven 9mm rounds concealed in the ceiling of the premises. A 41-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were arrested in connection with the confiscation.n
All arrested will appear in court once charged.
