OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Garden Route police clamped down on unlicensed liquor outlets with the arrest of 9 offenders for selling liquor without a licence and the confiscates of over 1000 litres of liquor during the past week.
These operations form part of concerted efforts to eradicate liquor abuse which remains one of the contributors to crimes against the most vulnerable in society, especially women and children.
Arrests were also made at Dysselsdorp and Oudtshoorn.
On Wednesday, 22 July at about 17:20 Da Gamaskop police members operationalised information when they descended on a house at Kiewiet Street, D’ Almeida, Mossel Bay. The team arrested a 44 year old man on mentioned charges. A similar operation was conducted at Marlin Street, Mossel Bay which led to the arrest of a 42 year old man.
Furthermore, on Saturday, 25 July Da Gamaskop police members conducted crime combatting operations at Sonskyn Valley when they responded to information of illegal activities at a house at Gumpiro Street, Sonskyn Valley in Mossel Bay. Upon arrival the members found several brands of liquor.
The occupant was arrested on a charge of selling liquor without a licence.
All arrested will appear in court once charged.
