NATIONAL NEWS - The KZN Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed that a 39-year old Vryheid man has died from rabies.
Kevin le Roux, the Rabies Project Manager for the Department, told the Vryheid Herald that test results that came back from the laboratories yesterday, revealed a positive rabies diagnosis.
This brings the tally of human rabies deaths in the last two months up to four in KZN, resulting in the Department of Agriculture and the Health Department declaring a state of emergency in the province. There have been seven reported human rabies deaths in South Africa this year.
