OUDTSHOORN NEWS - SA (CSA) held its AGM on Saturday 26 September, reflecting on a landmark year for South African cricket and the conclusion of the organisation’s four-year financial cycle covering the period 2022/23 to 2025/26.
SWD Cricket’s president, Micheal Eksteen, was re-elected to the CSA board.
The previous financial year, spanning 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026, featured historic achievements on the field, continued growth across the cricket pipeline and significant investment into cricket infrastructure ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
On the field, the Proteas Men made history by claiming the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) title following a five-wicket victory over Australia at Lord’s in June 2025, securing South Africa’s first senior men’s ICC trophy in 27 years.
The achievement formed part of a record-breaking period in test cricket that included a 10-match winning streak.
The Proteas Women continued their impressive performances on the global stage, reaching their maiden ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final in India in 2025.
Captain Laura Wolvaardt finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer with 571 runs as South Africa reached a third consecutive senior women’s ICC World Cup final across the ODI and T20I formats.
The SA U19 Women also reached the final of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia, further highlighting the continued progress of the women’s cricket pathway.
Financially, CSA recorded a net loss of R440.6m for the 2025/26 financial year as the organisation concluded the final year of its four-year financial cycle.
The result follows two profitable years during the cycle and significant investment into the future of the game. CSA closed the four years with cumulative revenue of R4.836b and a cumulative net profit of R492.9m.
The organisation also continued preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, investing more than R300m in infrastructure upgrades across host venues. CSA said the investment forms part of its commitment to ensuring the tournament delivers a lasting legacy for cricket and the broader South African economy.
