OUDTSHOORN NEWS AND VIDEO - The Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) night shift crew, with the assistance of Cape Nature, performed mopping-up operations throughout the night.
According to Merrilia Veldkornet, liaison officer for the GRDM, the western flank of the wildfire is secured and mopping-up will continue throughout the day.
The eastern flank in the direction of Rust-en-Vrede will also be thoroughly mopped up today.
She said Working-on-Fire (WoF) from Uniondale and Cape Nature will assist GRDM firefighters to mop-up areas until 20:00. Oudtshoorn Municipality's firefighters will also provide assistance where required.
Roleplayers include GRDM and Oudtshoorn Municipality Fire Services with the assistance of WoF and Cape Nature Ground Crews. Aerial firefighting assistance remains on standby.
