OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Members of the Oudtshoorn Joint Operational Centre (JOC) received cloth masks from Oudtshoorn Masks4All on Tuesday, 21 April.
Amanda Pieterse, co-ordinator of the 30 volunteers who make masks to donate to various organisations and institutions in and around Oudtshoorn, delivered 160 masks to the Oudtshoorn Disaster Management Centre.
Some of the masks will be given to municipal essential workers to use.
The JOC consists of the Municipal Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management personnel, Department of Health (Oudtshoorn Provincial Hospital), Department of Correctional Services (DSD), South African Police Services (SAPS), South African National Defence Force (SAPS), Western Cape Provincial Traffic, Department of Social Development (DSD), Klein Karoo Medi-Clinic, Pathological Services, South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Municipal Law Enforcement &Traffic Services and Oudtshoorn Municipal Communication Services.
Last week, Afri-Forum donated hand sanitisers to the JOC as part of their outreach project. These hand sanitisers are being used by the JOC and the essential workers.
"We are happy to receive both the masks and the hand sanitisers from these two organisations, use of these items would certainly intensify the fight against the COVID19. We would like to thank these organisations for the excellent work they are doing,” said Adél Supra-Vertue, manager for fire, rescue and disaster management who is also the chairperson of the JOC.
