The event will feature an array of divisions headlined by the World Surf League Longboard Qualifying Series (LQS) event, a number of eager surfers will be after valuable ratings points that go towards qualifying for the Longboard World Championships in China later this year.
Some of these big names include two-time World Longboard Champion Taylor Jensen (USA) and returning to the Whalebone Classic after a three year hiatus is current World Longboard Champion Harley Ingleby (AUS) who can't wait to hit the water.
"It's great to be back at the Whalebone Classic," Ingleby said. "It's been a couple of years now so I'm really excited to be back at such an amazing event especially with some of the names involved this year. It's great to see such a thriving Longboard community here at Cottesloe, there are so many competitors from such a large range of ages and generations, it's so good for our sport."
Reigning women's event champion at the Whalebone Classic is local favorite Georgia Young (AUS) is feeling quietly confident as the world's best arrive at her home break.
