The ANC in Gauteng this week announced that it accepted Zuma’s apology over the Nkandla fiasco, but wanted him to do the right thing, though it stopped short of calling on him to step down.
The party’s Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal branches were among the first to back Zuma despite a Constitutional Court ruling that he failed to uphold, defend and respect the Constitution by ignoring the Public Protector’s remedial action.
The ANC in the Western Cape said it does not have an official position on whether or not it wants Zuma to step down.
