GARDEN ROUTE AND KLEIN KAROO NEWS – George police have opened a culpable homicide docket following a fatal accident on the N9 between Herold and Uniondale this morning, Monday 13 October.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chis Spies, police were dispatched to the scene at about 06:45 after a minibus taxi carrying 17 occupants overturned near Louvain Guest Farm.
"On arrival, officers found three people, two women and one man, who had sustained multiple injuries. They were declared dead on the scene by paramedics," says Spies.
One person sustained serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene, while the remaining passengers were transported to a medical facility in George for treatment.
It is believed that the taxi was travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town at the time of the crash.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
