SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - EDENfm listeners were up in arms earlier this week when they could only hear signal sounds for at least three days.
Morné Pietersen, the station manager at EDENfm, told George Herald that they have had technical difficulties with the main sender and had to wait two days for a crucial part that fused.
Pietersen confirmed that with these difficulties they had to be in contact with Sentech, the company responsible for providing broadcasting signal distribution services.
But EDENfm had also been behind on payments to Sentech. However, Pietersen says the late payments were not wilful and due to cash flow problems. “It was not of our own doing. We delivered services which we were not paid for. And we have been struggling to get those monies so we can pay Sentech.”
He says like newspapers they are also dependent on advertising to pay the bills. According to Pietersen it has been a frustrating two and half days, trying to get the money and getting Sentech to agree to put them back on air once the technical problem was fixed.
He says they have been trying to communicate with their listeners through social media and their studio Whatsapp line. He says they made an agreement with Sentech that the money would be transferred to their account, and on these conditions they have agreed to put them back on air.
