GEORGE NEWS - The George Town Hall in York Street was full of youthful energy on Tuesday 16 June as 220 learners from various high schools throughout the district gathered for the Level Up - University Edition Youth Day event.
The learners who attended were among the top performers at their schools, and the event aimed to give them extra support as they plan their futures.

The programme was organised by SUFF Academy, in partnership with the Eden and Central Karoo Education District and the Western Cape Department of Social Development. It was designed to help learners prepare for life after school and to make the process of applying to university easier.
"This is a unique opportunity to bridge that gap," said SUFF Academy's CEO, Annique Arries.
With university and bursary applications currently open, the learners were invited to a guidance session during which they could get help with online applications, ask questions, and speak directly to university representatives. They also learnt more about different study options and financial aid opportunities.
The University of Johannesburg, Free State, NMU, Unisa, Fort Hare and Rhodes were among those represented at the event.
The George Municipality's MMC for social development, Cllr Melvin Roelfse, and master of ceremonies, Grant Damons opened the event.
The learners were also addressed by the Garden Route's Mayor Marais Kruger and the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Mimmy Gondwe, who encouraged them to take their education seriously and use every opportunity available.
