In her welcoming address Ms. Manana Moroka (CapeNature CEO) said "The fact that the newly established GCBR and CapeNature are sharing the same platform is a milestone."
The guest speaker, Dr. Andrew Knight of the University of Stellenbosch delivered an informal but informative and practical talk on Private land conservation. He emphasised the value of land owners in conservation.
"People are such valuable links to scien-tists. Quite often research results only confirm indigenous knowledge and significant time can be saved by just utilising people and their knowledge more effectively." he said.
Thirteen much valued CapeNature partners received awards in three categories; Contractors, Special awards and Stewardship.

Six landowners were also given awards for signing up for CapeNature’s Steward-ship programme.
