OUDTSHOORN | DYSSELSDORP NEWS - The Dysselsdorp Police have opened a culpable homicide docket following the death of two men on the N12 between De Rust and Dysselsdorp on Wednesday 2 February at about 15:45.
It is believed that the two soulmates, Marshilino May (31) and Ashley Meyer (32), were killed on impact after the Volkswagen Polo they were travelling in towards De Rust left the wet road and hit a tree. Both were declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
May and Meyer were from Oudtshoorn. The cause of the accident forms part of the ongoing police investigation.
The Mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality, Chad Louw, said that they are deeply saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of one of their colleagues Marshilino and want to send their heartfelt condolences to the family.
May worked at the municipality as a temporary worker for a few years until he was appointed as a labourer at Community Services in the cleansing department.
He was known for being a humble and gentle colleague who had a passion for his work.
May leaves behind his mother, father, four brothers and sister.
Oudtshoorn Courant reached out to family members and friends but they refrained from giving any comment.
