Update
GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The southeastern line of the Swartberg Mountain fire, from Cango Mountain Resort to Rust en Vrede Waterfall, is contained. Only a roaming light vehicle (skid unit) will perform spot checks in this area every two hours.
The focus of operations shifts to the most northern and northwestern lines, as indicated in pink on the included map. These two areas are still inaccessible to vehicles and can only be accessed on foot. Ground teams are assigned to these areas.
The northeastern line, however, has moved over and down the mountain to the north and toward the Central Karoo District area. Applicable resources, including those from the Central Karoo District, will assist in this area.
