OUDTSHOORN NEWS - Oudtshoorn and De Rust tourism stakeholders are actively promoting the Klein Karoo’s distinctive attractions to a global audience at the World Travel Market (WTM) Africa 2026, which officially opened in Cape Town on 13 April.
The three-day tourism trade show, held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, brings together more than 6000 international buyers, media representatives and tourism industry leaders from around the globe.
Representatives from the Garden Route and Klein Karoo Regional Tourism Offices (RTOs) and Local Tourism Offices (LTOs) are jointly showcasing the region.
Among the attractions being promoted are world-renowned destinations such as the Cango Caves, Safari Ostrich Farm, Cango Wildlife Ranch, De Zeekoe Guest Farm and Surval Boutique Olive Estate.
The region is exhibiting from a 90m² stand in the main exhibition hall, where tourism officials aim to position the region as a must-visit destination within South Africa’s broader travel landscape.
WTM Africa is widely regarded as Africa’s premier travel and tourism trade show, providing local destinations the opportunity to market their offerings directly to global tour operators and investors.
Other destinations represented include Hessequa Tourism, Mossel Bay Tourism, George, Wilderness and Uniondale Tourism, Plett Tourism and Visit Knysna.
During a walkabout on the opening day, James Vos, Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, Tourism and Investment, visited the stand and commended the team for their strong collaboration and effective marketing efforts in promoting the region internationally.

Tourism officials believe participation at WTM Africa will translate into increased travel interest, benefiting local businesses, accommodation establishments and attractions in the months ahead.
