ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Last month, actress Rebel Wilson and girlfriend Ramona Agruma pursued new avenues by launching their loungewear capsule together, called R&R Club. The capsule includes two items. A hoodie selling for R3145 and matching sweatpants for R2617.
In a post on Instagram, Rebel mentions that the capsule is a limited edition drop, which they’re “doing as a little experiment.”
When the collection launched last month, many of Rebel’s fans were left disappointed by the lack of size inclusivity that came with the launch. Only catering for sizes XS to XL, plus-size figures were left in the sidelines, wondering why an actress who found her frame as a plus-size icon, had not had size inclusivity at top of her mind.
Rebel Wilson is no stranger to the woes of a plus-size woman. Back in the day (not so long ago) plus size women had to trawl multiple retail stores only to find a limited selection of styles and clothes in their size. Today, brands have shifted to become more size-inclusive, which leaves us wondering, why hasn’t Wilson done the same?
In 2020, Rebel embarked on a health journey made public on Instagram. She lost over 15 kgs and dropped a few sizes because of it, no longer falling within the plus size range. Fans are left wondering how, after being plus size for the bulk of her life, Rebel has neglected the plus size community.
We don’t think she’s being neglectful just because she dropped sizes.
After receiving backlash online regarding the matter, Rebel took to her Instagram stories to set the record straight:
“In success we are planning on doing more colours and sizes for R&R CLUB,”
She continues:
“We are experimenting with this limited capsule collection of only two pieces in limited sizes,”
She then went on to ask fans which colours or sizes they would be like to see R&R Club to release.
In conclusion, there’s still more to come from Wilson. Perhaps the successful experiment will lead to a more size inclusive range for Rebel’s fans and loungewear lovers alike.
