BUSINESS NEWS - Winning Best Hair Salon, Best Nail Salon and Best Spa & Beauty Salon in the Best of Oudtshoorn & Klein Karoo awards is an incredible honour for our team. These awards are far more than trophies on a shelf - they represent the trust our clients place in us every day - and that is what means the most.
Monsoon The Salon was founded with the vision of creating a beautiful space where women can enjoy all the beauty treatments they need under one roof.
Today, we are proud to be a full-service aesthetic centre offering professional hair, nails, beauty and aesthetic treatments in a tranquil garden setting where clients can relax, unwind and enjoy time for themselves.
Our motto, 'For women, by women', reflects who we are.
Behind Monsoon is a team of 16 dedicated women, each bringing her own passion, expertise and personality to the salon.
Our greatest strength is not one exceptional stylist or therapist, but a team that genuinely supports one another.
We are mothers, wives, daughters and professionals who understand that life happens. By working closely together, we ensure every client is cared for, no matter what.
Strong leadership, exceptional service
Our hair department is led by Marguerite, whose years of experience, technical knowledge and commitment to excellence have helped establish the high standard of hair services our clients expect.
Our nail and beauty department is led by Venesa, an experienced somatologist whose focus extends beyond treatments. Her dedication to client care, professionalism and mentoring our therapists ensures every client enjoys an exceptional experience from the moment they walk through our doors.
The role of our owner, Lorish Olivier, is different. She is not a qualified hairstylist or beauty therapist. Instead, her focus is on building the business behind the beauty by creating the systems, structure and support that allow talented professionals to thrive.
From investing in training and maintaining high service standards to ensuring the salon's treatments remain affordable for the Klein Karoo community, her goal is to make sure every part of Monsoon works seamlessly.
"I have always believed that if you look after your team first, they will look after your clients," she says. "That philosophy has become the foundation of our culture and the reason our clients enjoy the warm, consistent experience they have come to expect.
"One of the biggest lessons I have learnt is not to become distracted by what others are doing. Instead, we focus on improving our own business every day. Whether it is refining our systems, investing in our team or enhancing the client experience, continual improvement has always been our priority."
Being part of a larger group with our sister salon in George also allows us to purchase products in bulk. Rather than increasing our margins, we pass those savings on to our clients, making premium products and treatments more accessible without compromising on quality.
Experience also matters.
Our high client volumes allow the team to perform specialised services every day, continually refining our skills while staying current with industry trends and techniques.
Combined with ongoing education and a genuine passion for what we do, this enables us to deliver consistent, professional results.
Ultimately, we believe Monsoon continues to be recognised because we have never lost sight of what matters most.
Beautiful hair and treatments may bring clients through our doors, but it is the relationships, consistency and genuine care we show that keep them coming back.
Our clients are never simply appointments in a diary - they become part of the Monsoon family.
"To everyone who has supported us, recommended us and voted for us over the years, thank you.
"These awards belong just as much to our loyal clients as they do to our team.
"We remain committed to raising the standard of beauty in the Klein Karoo while continuing to provide a welcoming space where every woman feels confident, cared for and valued.
"That has always been the heart of Monsoon," says Lorish.
