Update
OUDTSHOORN NEWS - In the latest update from Garden Route District Municipality, they have confirmed that no extreme weather conditions are expected for today.
The inclement weather has largely cleared up with a sunny day and maximum temperature of 22 degrees, expected with a light to moderate southerly breeze.
One hotspot/flare up was discovered this morning on Division Yankee which has been extinguished.
All other fire lines have been mopped up and confirmed as cold, with no signs of fire or smoke. No risk to infrastructure or young veld.
Division tasks for the operational period will focus on constructing the tracer belt to protect young veld on Division Yankee, also ensuring structures further south-west are protected.
Overview:
- Division Yankee: Continue construction of a tracer line (achieved 816m on 07/01), to isolate a large unburnt area (see map) - 2 x Ground Crews, 5 x Operators.
- In total approximately 15251.7 ha have burnt (See map for property details).
- Infrastructure at Potential Risk - None.
