Update
OUDTSHOORN NEWS - In the latest update from the Garden Route District Municipality, they report that the inclement weather has largely cleared up with a sunny day and maximum temperatures of 22 degrees expected, with a light to moderate southerly breeze.
No extreme weather is expected.
All fire lines have been confirmed as contained with no signs of fire or smoke. There is no risk to infrastructure.
Division tasks for the operational period remain the same, mainly focusing on mopping up and a tracer belt to protect young veld on Division Yankee.
The Incident Action Plan includes:
1) Division Charlie: Monitor and mop up - 1 x skid unit.
2) Division Zulu: Monitor and mop up - 1 x Skid Unit, 1 x Ground Crew.
3) Division Yankee: Monitor and mop up - 1 x Skid Unit, 1 x Ground Crew.
4) Establishment of a tracer line to isolate a large unburnt area (see map) - 2 x Ground Crews, 5 x Operators.
In total approximately 15251.7 ha have been burnt to date. See map for property details.
