BOXING NEWS - In the most recent issue of the weekly British boxing magazine Boxing News, five South Africans (Zolani Tete, Gideon Buthelezi, Moruti Mthalane, Hekkie Budler and Simphiwe Khonco) are listed in their ratings, which are independent of any of the multiple boxing organisations around today.
The magazine, which was established in 1909, has been listed as The Award-Winning World’s Best Fight Magazine.
Zolani Tete (25-3), the WBO champion, is rated at No 7 in the bantamweights. Shinsuke Yamanaka (27-0-2) from Japan is their No 1.
IBO junior-bantamweight champion Gideon Buthelezi (20-5) is listed at number ten in the junior-bantamweights. Naoya Inoue (13-0) of Japan is in at No 1.
The IBO flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane (33-2) comes in at six in the flyweight class, with Japan’s Kazuto Ioka (22-1) in the No 1 spot.
Hekkie Budler (31-2), who won the IBO light-flyweight belt in February this year, is listed at number ten, with Ken Shiro (10-0) rated at No 1.
