Suspended transport department staff cost over R2 million

NATIONAL NEWS - Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has revealed that six department employees have been sitting at home on full pay at a cost of around R2 million over the last three years.

In response to a written parliamentary question posed by the Democratic Alliance (DA), Peters said the officials were accused of serious allegations of misconduct which warranted their suspension.

The staff involved were three deputy director generals, one director, one deputy director and an assistant director.

DA MP Chris Hunsinger says there appears to be no urgency in concluding investigations.
