NATIONAL NEWS - The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed the official payment schedule for social grants for the 2025/2026 financial year.
Kempton Express reports that, as in previous years, payments will be made over three consecutive days each month, starting with older persons’ grants, followed by disability grants, and concluding with children’s grants.
This structured approach ensures a smooth and organised process that avoids long queues and system overloads, says Sassa.
- In April, the first grants were paid out to older persons on 2 April, followed by disability grants on 3 April and children’s grants on 5 April.
- May’s payments will roll out from 6 to 8 May.
- In June, recipients can expect their grants between 3 and 5 June.
- July’s payments will commence on 2 July and conclude on 5 July.
- In August, funds will be disbursed from 5 August to 7 August.
- September payments are scheduled to begin on 2 September and end on 4 September.
- October sees a slight shift, with grants being distributed from 2 October to 6 October, a deviation from the usual three-day span.
- The November dates are set for 4, 5 and 6 November.
- December payments will be made from 2 to 4 December.
- As the new year begins, January 2026 payments will be issued from 6 to 8 January.
- In February, beneficiaries can expect their funds from 3 to 5 February.
- Finally, the 2025/2026 financial year concludes with March payments from 3 to 5 March, 2026.
The schedule, which was officially approved by Gloria Maphophe, senior manager of Payment Support at Sassa, enables beneficiaries to plan their monthly budgets.
Beneficiaries can collect their grants on their allocated days at ATMs, pay points, or through other approved methods, and are encouraged to avoid rushing to collection points all at once to help manage queues and ensure safety.
