"We can confirm an incident took place this morning at Kingsway Hospital where a 34-year-old constable shot and killed herself. The motive is unknown. An inquest docket was opened at Amanzimtoti SAPS for investigation,” said provincial police spokesman, Maj Thulani Zwane.
In a media statement, Annatjie Demetriou, general manager of Netcare Kingsway Hospital confirmed that a woman, who was a visitor, died at the hospital following a self-inflicted injury.
The incident occurred at about 5am and most patients and visitors to the hospital were not exposed to the tragedy.
