LOCAL NEWS - The internationally renowned Helen Doron Educational Group has officially opened its first South African branch, Helen Doron Garden Route, bringing a world-class approach to teaching English to children and teens in the region.
The new learning centre is owned and taught by Lizelle Meyer, a resident of Oudtshoorn who matriculated at Hoërskool Oudtshoorn.
Lizelle holds an honours degree in drama from Stellenbosch University and has an extensive international teaching background.
After living in London, she moved to Korea, where she joined Helen Doron Educational Group as an English teacher.
In 2019, she was nominated to become a teacher trainer and in 2020, she was appointed as a teacher trainer.
Since then, Lizelle has trained teachers in Korea, Germany, Croatia, Slovakia, Portugal and other countries, further cementing her status as an experienced international educator.
According to Lizelle, the lessons at Helen Doron Global are interactive, engaging and age-appropriate, designed to help children and teens learn English in a fun, natural, and effective way.
"Our classes help children learn English the right way, the natural way, using songs, games and hands-on activities," she said.
Initially, lessons will start in Oudtshoorn, with plans to expand to George and Mossel Bay.
Classes cater for children and teens aged 3 to 19 years, offering an approach to English as a Second Language (ESL) based on natural language acquisition principles, similar to how children learn their native language.
Helen Doron Educational Group, a global leader in children's education, operates a vast network of learning centres worldwide.
Their programmes include Helen Doron English, MathRiders and Helen Doron Spanish, all designed to create a joyful, inspiring learning environment.
The methodology focuses on hands-on activities, positive reinforcement, and stimulating learning experiences, avoiding online-only classes in favour of small, interactive in-person sessions.
Lizelle emphasises the importance of a multi-sensory approach.
"Our lessons are filled with music, animated videos, games, and other interactive activities. We use original songs, videos, apps and educational materials to make learning English enjoyable and effective," she said.
With the opening of Helen Doron Garden Route, children in the Garden Route region now have access to a proven international programme that not only teaches English but also fosters confidence, creativity, and a love for learning.
Give your child the gift of confident English.
