OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The wildfire remains contained near infrastructure.
On the northen and upper slope of the mountain it burns uncontrollably, however, it poses no risk to any infrastructure at current.
Over the crest of the mountain, within the Central Karoo District Municipal area, the fire burns slowly down the mountain, and inaccessible at current, and no imminent danger to the game farm exists in the immediate.
Trigger lines are set for intervention, should the fire spread to the game fence.
A monitoring crew of Central Karoo District Municipality is tracking fire progress and a Working of Fire (GRDM) crew is in position for implementing counter measures.
In anticipation of prefrontal winds from the south-west, GRDM has activated an additional fire truck to the east towards Meiringspoort and the farm, Varkenskraal, to protect infrastructure in close proximity of the eastern flank.
Ground crews are continously working on accessible lines on the south-eastern area.
Stakeholders on scene included GRDM, CapeNature, Working on Fire (GRDM), Oudtshoorn Municipality and Central Karoo District Municipality.
