GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT NEWS - The animal welfare organisation, Odin (Oudtshoorn dogs in need) benefitted from a beauty pageant where contestants have shown they care for their furry friends by gathering substantial donations for the charity.
The Eden SA 2021 beauty pageant crowning took place three weeks ago at the Diaz Hotel in Mossel Bay.
The organiser of the pageant, Karen Gray, said: "With every pageant and competition I request that each contestant brings an item of dog or cat food and this year's seniors in the pageant outdid themselves and even brought toys and blankets.
Our Charity Award winner, Tiffany Vlok, really went beyond what was expected of her. She secured a permanent sponsorship of dog and cat food of R1 200 per month for Odin as well as a stunning trauma dog kennel and toys, extra food and also building materials for the extension of the cattery.
Rosie Venter made her contribution of cement towards the project. I aim to make people more aware of the need out there. Then they also have a part in caring for our animals."
According to Gray, other contestants also contributed cash and building materials towards Odin's project.
