According to police the driver of the Jeep wanted to turn east into Bloem Street from Langenhoven Road and was hit on the left side by the Mazda which was travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of the Mazda sustained injuries which were not serious.
According to an eye witness the driver of the Jeep was not aware of the oncoming Mazda as his view was partly blocked by three cars which were standing opposite him in the right hand lane of Langenhoven Street, waiting to turn west.
A resident of Langenhoven Street mentioned that the intersection at Bloem Street is very busy in peak hours and that several accidents had already occurred there.
The impact of the collision swung the cars around to face in the directions from which they originally came. Insert: Although there were no serious injuries damage to both vehicles was extensive.
