ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Tragedy has struck the South African entertainment industry following the death of Lisa Koppel, wife of award-winning singer Daniel ‘Danny K’ Koppel.
While the exact time of Lisa’s passing has not been disclosed, the news was confirmed earlier yesterday, 10 August, by Danny’s mother, Pam Koppel.
At the time Pam told media outlets that the family would not be issuing a formal public statement and that the specific circumstances surrounding her death would remain private.
But on Tuesday morning the family issued a statement in which they movingly spoke about her three-year battle with colorectal cancer.

Lisa and Danny K had been married since 2012 and shared three children.
A model-turned-lawyer, Lisa was the daughter of prominent celebrity divorce attorney Billy Gundelfinger. After starting her career in modelling, she transitioned to law and was admitted as an advocate of the High Court in 2010.
Although Gavin Koppel, Danny’s father, has not explicitly commented on the news on his Facebook Page, he published a deeply emotional poem titled ‘My Promise’ Sunday afternoon, 9 August, in which he vows to transform profound grief into empathy rather than bitterness.
Committing to use his suffering to offer comfort and kindness to others, he wrote: “I will use my pain to heal from this day forward.”
Danny K, a multiple South African Music Award winner and a long-standing figure in local entertainment, has previously spoken openly about enduring immense personal loss, including the tragic death of his brother Jarren in a 2003 helicopter crash.
As news of Lisa’s passing spreads, tributes and messages of condolence have begun pouring in from across the country.
