OUDTSHOORN NEWS - The Uzuko Development Sports Club hosted its Mandela Day Youth Netball Challenge on Saturday 18 July, bringing together young players for a day of competitive netball. The tournament featured matches between Uzuko Bloom Netball Club and Young Eagles, with Uzuko Bloom claiming convincing victories in both encounters.
In the B-team fixture, Uzuko Bloom defeated Young Eagles 18-10 before the club's A-team secured a comprehensive 21-6 victory.
Organisers praised all the players for their commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship and expressed appreciation to the local community for its support. Proceeds from food sales on the day will contribute towards the club's ongoing youth development programmes.
The Uzuko Development Sports Club also extended its sincere gratitude to shop owner Dasta Sabiro for donating food items. According to Luzuko Jimmy Majola, founder and chairperson of the club, the generous sponsorship helped raise much-needed funds for the development of its netball programme and the purchase of equipment.
"The support of local businesses enables us to keep young people active, engaged and focused on positive opportunities through sport. We are grateful to have partners who share our commitment to developing the youth of our community," he said.
He also encouraged residents to continue supporting local businesses that invest in community development and youth sport.
