GREAT BRAK NEWS - Approximately 1640 cyclist took part in the annual Grootbrak Grabadoo that was hosted on 31 December last year.
The Grootbrak Grabadoo is one of the most popular cycling events in the area and the perfect way to say goodbye to the old year. The event was organized by Adventures Garden Route & Interface by goji.
An interesting fact of the event is that almost 78% of all the participants hailed from outside the Garden Route. Mountain bikers had a choice from four exciting routes which includes some wonderful twists and turns in the forest that included the 15 km, 36 km, 53 km, and 71 km races. The 4.8 km walking route was also an option.
Besides the huge marketing value for Grootbrak, the economic contribution into the local economy is roughly calculated at around R150 000.
The Great Brak Business Forum created a wonderful atmosphere in which local small businesses made use of the opportunity to sell their wares to the cyclists, runners and supporters.
Vodacom was once again the premier partner, with supporting partners Powerade, Thinus Nel Motors, De Dekke Spar, De Kaap Estates, Mossel Bay Tourism, Eco Bound & Coimbra Cycle house.
Thumbs up for the Grabadoo.
Thinus Nel Motors vehicles contributed greatly towards road safety and assistance to ensured that the routes were all accessible and clearly marked while Frontier Medics were again on standby in case of medical emergencies.
Mossel Bay Tourism also endorsed the event for the first time.
