CRICKET NEWS - The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers has confirmed the appointment of Jason Maswanganyi as assistant coach of their professional team. He replaces Gurshwin Rabie, who was recently chosen as the head coach of the flagship team.
It will be Maswanganyi's second stint with the Badgers. He was employed by the Oudtshoorn-based affiliate between 2018 and 2021.
During that period, he coached the SWD u.19s and academy teams. Maswanganyi has a good understanding of the structures and expectations of the Badgers.
The 35-year-old Maswanganyi hails from Alexandra in the East Rand, and was employed as the Academy and Colts team coach at Easterns Cricket in Benoni since 2021.
He was previously also employed as a development coach at Gauteng Cricket.
He holds a Cricket South Africa Level III coaching qualification.
"We are delighted to have Jason back in our midst," commented South Western Districts Cricket Chief Executive, Albertus Kennedy.
"He will be joining the coaching staff under the helm of Gurshwin Rabie and together with the strength and conditioning coach, Tyler Easton, we are confident that they as a unit will take the Badgers to new heights."
