BOXING NEWS - Jeff Horn from Australia makes the first defence of his WBO welterweight belt that he won against Manny Pacquiao in July this year, when he meets Gary Corcoran of England at the Convention & Exhibition Centre in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old Horn 17-0-1; 11 won the belt on a debatable 12 round points decision against the all-time great Manny Pacquiao.
However, it is pertinent to note that Pacquiao was 38-years-old and had 68 fights in a long career.
Corcoran,27, who is based in London is ranked at No 10 by the WBO but not listed by any of the other major organisations, has compiled a record of 17-1; 7 since making his pro debut in November 2011.
His only loss came against Liam Williams in July 2016 when he was stopped in the eleventh round in a challenge for the British junior-middleweight title.
In his last fight on July 8 this year Corcoran beat Larry Ekundayo on a points decision to claim the WBO Intercontinental welterweight title, which possibly gave him the rating in the WBO.
Before the Pacquiao fight Horn had two inside the distance victories against Rico Mueller and South Africa’s Ali Funeka.
Horn is possibly the better fighter and having the home crowd advantage he is favoured to take the decision.
