CYCLING NEWS - The 2024 Bergplaas Challenge had a great turn-out of about 250 entries on Saturday 6 April.
The event took place at the beautiful Libertas Guest Farm just outside Hoekwil, and the weather gods couldn't have been more generous towards the athletes as cool and cloudy weather throughout the day offered optimal racing conditions.
The organisers, Chain Gang Events, celebrated the fourth edition of this popular mountain biking and trail running event.
But the Bergplaas Challenge isn't just another fun mountain biking event, it also forms part of the Western Cape and Eden cross country marathon leagues. It is also a Cycling South Africa (CSA) sanctioned event.
"It was once again a great day with a good turn-out. Thank you to all our supporters, sponsors and athletes who take part every year. It's a great event every year and the blood, sweat and tears are always worth it," said Chain Gang's Janine Botes.
The event offered a 30km, 40km or 70km cycle challenge, or a 7km or 10km trail run.
