With the well-spaced rain the region has received over the last couple of months all the golf courses in the Southern Cape are in excellent conditions and Knysna was not an exception.
The course provided a good test to the 92 players who entered the championship and as usual the format of Betterball in the morning and Foursomes in the afternoon put a bit of pressure on some relationships while others were just growing in strength. A reliable source, who did not want to be mentioned, told the George Herald that "as far as she knows" no divorce proceedings were started on Monday by any of the participants.
A golf relationship that seems to work very well is that of Tyronn Farrell, from Fancourt, and Maggi du Toit, from Kingswood, who won the Championship for the third successive year with a gross score of 146 followed closely by another strong pairing of Richard Plum and Sonja Bland.
Rita Herholdt, president of the Southern Cape Women's Golf Association (SCWGA), said Nomads Southern Cape has been associated with this event for many years and they would like to thank them for their contribution and the support that woman's and junior golf is receiving from them. "We hope that this relationship will be one that will grow from strength to strength."
