OUDTSHOORN CRICKET NEWS - Union Stars (187/7 in 39.4 overs) ended at the top of the SWD Premier League after a 3 wicket victory against Ramblers (182 all out) at the Bridgton Sports Ground in Oudtshoorn on Saturday.
Although the home team won by a bonus point for reaching the target within 40 overs they had to work hard for a victory, and it was eventually the experience Pieter Stuurman (61) who secured a victory with a well-played half-century.
George (107/2) ended second on the log after they defeated Pioneers (106 all out) by 8 wickets and will have the home ground advantage in the play-off fixture to determine the other finalist when they take on Knysna Cavaliers on Saturday. Gary Wagner (50* ) with the bat and Grant Simpson (4/25) with the ball excelled for George.
Knysna Cavaliers (224 all-out), who had their best performance in a decade, ended third on the log after they defeated Harlequins (121 all out) by 103 runs. Irvin Campher (70* ) and (3/10 with the ball) was the hero for Cavaliers.
