MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers are licking their wounds after a super-over defeat in Sunday's, 1 October, Cricket SA Twenty 20 knock-out fixture against the Eastern Cape Iinyathi at Buffalo Park in East London.
After no play was possible on Friday against Impala Limpopo and Saturday against the Northern Cape Heat, due to rain and a wet outfield, Sunday's match became a play-off.
The Badgers, who batted first, lost some momentum in the middle order but managed to post a defendable 158/9.
Blade Capell scored 41. The Iinyathi ended at 148/6 and with the scores tied, a super-over was imposed.
Marco Marais blasted 23 of the 28 runs in this over. The Badgers responded with nine runs – a defeat of 17 runs.
With this defeat the Badgers failed to qualify for the semi-finals and finals that will be played in East London this weekend.
