Laser-run is the UIPM’s fastest-growing development sport, which incorporates the finale of the Olympic version of modern pentathlon.
Laser Run, which has enjoyed rapid growth in popularity and profile since its introduction in 2015, will be one of two showcase sports at the inaugural Games from 13 to 15 September 2019 after its impact on the worldwide urban sports scene was recognised by the organisers, GAISF.
In 2019 the UIPM Laser Run World Championships will be incorporated for the first time in the Pentathlon World Championships, taking place in Budapest from September 2 to 8, with the mixed relay coinciding with the second Pierre de Coubertin Pentathlon Day - a global celebration of the legacy of the founder of Modern Pentathlon - on the final day.
Not only will Budapest stage the double UIPM showpiece in September, the city has also recently been confirmed as host of the inaugural World Urban Games, in which laser-run will be a showcase sport.
A qualifying system for Laser Run at the World Urban Games will be announced in due course, along with details of athlete quotas (per country and gender), competition format and schedule.
