GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - The Cape Town Weather Office has issued several weather warnings for the Garden Route area for the coming week.
Disruptive rain:
A cold front is expected to move over the southwestern parts of the Western Cape today (Monday 19 July), resulting in rain and showers, spreading to the Garden Route by Monday evening.
Persistent rainfall will lead to a high likelihood of localised minor disruptions, affecting Garden Route coastal areas from Tuesday afternoon (20 July), into the evening.
Affected Garden Route areas: Bitou, George, Hessequa, Knysna, Mossel Bay.
Disruptive snow:
Significant low freezing levels ar expected over the interior of the Western Cape on Wednesday (21 July) into Thursday morning (22 July) due to a cold front.
Snowfall is anticipated to cover mountainous areas during this period. Snowfall accumulation between 2-5cm can be expected. Snow downpours (5-10cm) are expected over the mountainous areas.
Affected Garden Route areas: Prince Albert, Oudtshoorn
Damaging waves:
The cold front passing over the Western Cape on Wednesday morning will result in south-westerly swell with wave heights of 6-8m between Saldanha Bay and Plettenberg Bay on Wednesday, into Thursday morning.

Damaging winds:
With the passage of the cold front expected on Wednesday, strong to gale force wind is expected along the coast between Cape Point and Plettenberg Bay on Wednesday morning, moderating from late evening.
