NATIONAL NEWS - A man who was suspected of being involved in several taxi related killings in Umbumbulu in KwaZulu-Natal, was killed on Monday during a shoot-out with police in Durban.
The suspect, aged 35, was being sought for six murders in Scottburgh and two in Umbumbulu when he was cornered at a house in Braid Avenue in Seaview, during a police operation.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says the man, who was involved in the taxi industry in the KZN South Coast area, started shooting at police officers and a shoot-out ensued.
According to Netshiunda the suspect was fatally injured during the gunfight.
