Earthlife Africa wants court to stop SA nuclear project
NATIONAL NEWS - Earthlife Africa has announced its plans to use the court to secure answers about government’s nuclear build plans, and ultimately to try and stop the project.

The organisation is due to hold a briefing on Thursday, to give more details about its legal challenge.

South Africans are waiting for information about the potential purchase of 9.6 gigawatts of nuclear power to support Eskom’s electricity grid.

There is no formal decision yet on who will build the power plants or how much they will cost.

Last month, Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson dismissed claims the nuclear build programme will cost around R1 trillion.
