Police spokesperson, constable Noloyiso Rwexana, said the bomb was thrown at the bus at 7:45pm last night.
The deceased men were sitting on the upper level and could not escape the burning bus which was transporting 43 people at the time.
City of Cape Town’s Safety and Security Mayco member JP Smith said: “This is too horrible for words. Somewhere a mother, child or wife is waiting for these two men to come home.”
The bus driver who escaped with minor injuries explained to paramedics that three ‘petrol bombs’ hit the bus, according to the ER24 website.
