Eskom warns of Load shedding risk due to unit breakdowns

NATIONAL NEWS -  Eskom has issued an urgent alert regarding a high risk of load shedding this evening following the breakdown of six generation units in the past 12 hours.

These outages have placed severe strain on the power system, requiring the use of emergency reserves to stabilise supply.

Should an additional 800MW be lost, Eskom will be forced to implement Stage 2 load shedding at short notice. Efforts are currently underway to return seven generation units to service between the evening peak and Tuesday night.
