MOTORING NEWS - After an absence of five years the Bike Dirt Oval is back at the George track this Saturday 27 July. George was the first to stage Bike Oval in South Africa and was the home track for six years.
The bikes and quads will be joined by cross-karts and even a few pipe cars.
Local motor sport promoter Bobby Hack has been involved in motorcycle dirt sports for many years and has promoted enduros, Moto X, road bike rally's and bike and quad oval events in George, Port Elizabeth and East London.
Hack is now committed to ensure that bike and quad oval becomes a nationally accepted part of the motorsport calendar with plans to promote tracks in the Cape Provinces, FreeState, Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng .
Flat track racing dates back over a 100 years. It is considered the oldest, longest-running and most traditional motorcycle racing event. Hack has now formed Dirt Circus SA, and will be running flat track events with various classes to accommodate all aspects of bikes and riders.
Scooter and skedonks is a starter class with any thing on two wheels eligible to race . MX oval is spread for juniors from 6 to 16 years old, MX novice and expert 250 and 500cc classes. Quad Bike classes range from junior, to novice, up to expert. Flat track has a unique atmosphere and riders enjoy better longevity in the sport compared to other disciplines. Many riders don’t even begin to peak until their thirties.
Dirt Oval flat track is a spectacular spectator sport with all the action in close-up full view. The touch of show biz and glitz appeals to all ages and the racing is easy to follow which makes for a great family outing. Flat track racing is making a comeback, so do not miss out on this one!
