MOTORING NEWS - Chery has opened a dealership in George with an experienced sales team to provide personal service to locals who want to buy a quality vehicle at a reasonable price.
Chery forms part of Group 1 Auto, a small, independent and very hands-on group that focuses on operational efficiency in trying to build a better future for its staff and for the brands they represent.
"We are very proud to represent the exciting and affordable Chery brand in the Southern Cape and we encourage our community to test drive this brand's SUVs, which retail from as little as R279 000 and go up to R546 000 for our top-of-the-range Tiggo8 executive seven-seater SUV," says Group 1 Auto director Marcel Swanepoel.
The values that Group 1 Auto employs within the group are captured under the name HEAT, which stands for Honesty, Energy, Accountability and Teamwork. "We are customer-focused and are confident that our successful approach in other areas can be replicated in the George area and that our team at Group 1 Chery George, under the leadership of sales manager Tascha Crause, will continue our proud heritage."
Crause grew up in the vehicle sales industry and has experience of various brands, including Mercedes-Benz. What convinced her to join the Chery brand was not only the excellent quality and amazing guarantees, but also the safety features and functions that are standard in the top ranges. "Chery truly offers tremendous value for money. The quality is evident when you get into the car, and the guarantees speak for themselves," says Crause.
THE TEAM
Group 1 Auto has made sure to appoint a sales team at Chery George that consists of passionate people who share the same values of excellence in service.

Sales manager Tascha Crause
Tascha Crause grew up in the car industry, following in her father's footsteps. He started his own dealership, Phil Minnaar Motors, in Pretoria 30 years ago, but brought the business to George where he served Georgians for 18 years. Tascha started out at Kia & Hyundai in Pretoria, but also moved to George in 2012 to join her father. After six years with him, she spread her wings and acquired more experience, working for Suzuki for a year before being appointed in the new car sales division at Mercedes-Benz Stanmar Motors. She spent three years there before her recent appointment by Group 1 Auto to lead sales at the new Chery George dealership.
"With such wide exposure and experience as background, I can confidently invite customers to our dealership for excellent, knowledgeable service from someone that they can trust. I further believe that the dynamics of our team of stalwarts will make a difference in our customers' experience," says Tascha.
Elizabeth Coetzer
Elizabeth Coetzer's introduction to car sales started early in 2022 when Group 1 Auto appointed her to sell Chery cars from a display area in the Garden Route Mall. She has impressed the company with her passion for the product and helpful way with customers, always going the extra mile. She is trustworthy, a true stalwart and a highly energetic saleswoman. Elizabeth believes that client service is foremost and therefore she would go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that her clients' needs are put first. Elizabeth is over the moon to be part of the Chery team at the modern, brand-new premises.
Anthon van Rooyen
Anthon van Rooyen began his career as car salesman right after school, building his own pre-owned car sales business in Pretoria. He moved to George eight years ago. After a stint with Toyota Mossel Bay, he started out on his own again. When the opportunity at Chery George arose, he was delighted to take it up. He will continue to focus on pre-owned car sales. Anthon's approach is, "If I won't buy the car myself or transport my family in it, I won't sell it to someone else." A testimony to his service quality is the referrals he gets from existing customers. Anthon's advice when buying a second-hand car is to do your homework and make sure that you buy from a reputable dealer.
Chantel Hayward
Chantel Hayward, the receptionist and stock controller who ensures that customers are welcomed with a friendly smile, has many years of experience at Kempston Motors and her skills have been honed to ensure that promises made by the Chery team are promises kept. The team will not be able to function without her input and concern over customer service.
